Local news makes the world go round, and this story from Johnny Cash's hometown of Kingsland, Arkansas is absolutely golden. This is one way to put out a Ring Of Fire...
The Cleveland County Herald has reported that a sharpshooting vandal fired a bullet at Kingsland's water tower, which is adorned with a silhouette of Johnny Cash. The bullet hit Johnny Cash's groin, so it now looks like he's peeing.
The man that fired the bullet, 38-year-old Timothy Sled, has been charged with two felonies, criminal mischief and impairing the operation of a vital public utility. He's set to face the Cleveland Country Circuit Court on July 2nd, with bond set at $5,000. Free-flowing justice is presumably set to follow.
The amount of water lost daily as a result of the bullet hole is estimated at 3,000 gallons of water, costing the town $200 USD each day - but the water is still safe to drink. The tank was renovated in 2021 as part of a nearly $300,000 USD grant that Kingsland received to make water improvements.
