Lil Nas X recently covered music icon Dolly Parton's track Jolene as part of his performance in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, and it turns out that she got wind of the cover - and she absolutely loved it.
Taking to social media, Dolly wrote, "I was so excited when someone told me that Lil Nas X had done my song #Jolene. I had to find it and listen to it immediately…and it's really good. Of course, I love him anyway. I was surprised and I'm honoured and flattered. I hope he does good for both of us. Thank you @LilNasX."
Lil Nas X was blown away by the country music legend's response, simply writing on Twitter, "HOLY SHIT". Fair enough, too.

Back in 2019, Dolly spoke to Elle and revealed that she'd been asked to jump on the remix of Old Town Road alongside Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus, but knocked back the opportunity because she thought the song had already had some amazing remixes.
She explains, "It had done so well with so many people. I thought, 'Well, I'll wait and do something later on. No point in going down that same Old Town Road. We got other roads to travel."
