Britain seems to be where it’s at for this evident influx of soul of late. I did a piece a while back about how darn well the pop ladies were doing referring to the likes of Lorde, London Grammar and Banks. Now it’s man’s time to shine. What with CA favourites Kwabs, Jacob Banks, King Krule, SOHN and Bipolar Sunshine representing, stumbling across insane male pipes seems to be a daily occurrence at present.
But let’s just step over the Atlantic for a sec and admit that we’ve all wished we were Justin Timberlake from time to time. (This’ll be awkward if not.) From onset antics with Mila Kunis to soaring vocal range to a loveable charm and wit he takes home plenty of prizes for most desirable man.
Well the other day I stumbled across Britain’s answer. Jacob Anderson of Adulthood and Game of Thrones needs not dream elsewhere as the acclaimed actor just last week released his debut EP Black and Blue under the moniker Raleigh Ritchie which, by the way, is fucking rad. Perched comfortably alongside the aforementioned fellas, his take on this new wave of modern soul is unexpectedly dope. Jump on this one while you can and thank us later.
