Alongside Kanye, Lana Del Rey is one of the most notorious release ghosters in pop music.
After last year's delayed Norman Fucking Rockwell was finally released, Del Rey said she was working on another album called White Hot Forever. In May, she announced that the record would drop 5th September 2020 before updating later in the month that it would now be called Chemtrails Over The Country Club.
Well, it's 5th September tomorrow and Del Rey hasn't given us many details about the record making its release unlikely. It's not surprising but it does seem that the album might actually be coming soon. Here's what we actually know about Chemtrails Over The Country Club:
This week, she shot a video for the title track of the album. In an Instagram video addressing her fans, she tagged photographer Neil Krug who worked on the cover for her sophomore record Ultraviolence. In the post, she announced that a new single Love Me Like A Woman will be released as a single before the album.
In July, she released a clip of a new song Tulsa Jesus Freak on her Instagram. Jack Antonoff's voice is speculated to be heard in the post. He produced the majority of Norman Fucking Rockwell.
In October last year, Del Rey spoke to Q Magazine about Love Me Like A Woman saying, “There’s just something about it. I feel like it’s going to be really important, but I don’t know why yet. That’s where the magic comes in.”
Fans have speculated that she shot something for the album at Eric Lloyd Wright House in Malibu at the beginning of August 2020. Both her hairstylist and makeup artist were present.
This year, Del Rey has already released a poetry book Violet Bent Backward Over The Grass. It's already dropped as an audio book but it will also receive a physical release in October.
We're just going to have to wait and see when Del Rey decides to set Chemtrails Over The Country Club free. For most Del Rey fans, waiting has become part of the game.
