Lorde recently appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers, and it turns out that it got so out of hand she needed a IV drip to recover.
Seth has a segment called Day Drinking, where he goes drinking with different celebrities while interviewing them. It usually ends up being pretty raucous.
Lorde appeared as part of the segment, drinking Japanese sake, Irish whiskey, red wine, White Claw and Foster's, and by the sounds of it, it left Lorde the worse for wear the next day.
The pair spoke about New Zealand slang, taught Seth to pronounce Lorde's birth name, Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, and even painted the cover for Melodrama, Lorde's second album.
The day after filming the segment, she was on TV again, appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform her new track Stoned At The Nail Salon. It was an experience that could have gone very differently, if not for the IV drip.
She returned to Late Night with Seth Meyers to talk about how she pulled up after appearing on Day Drinking, and told Seth that the segment had left her feeling pretty rough (though you wouldn't know it from her performance on The Late Show, which she nailed).
Seth asked, “To be honest, how hungover were you the next day?” Given we were feeling hungover just looking at the number of drinks on offer, we can't imagine she was feeling too crash hot - and Lorde confirmed that.
She told Seth, “I can’t look at an alcoholic drink ever again, it was insane. You did kind of destroy me. And I had to get a very pop star thing: an IV drip came to my hotel and administered fluids to my corpse.”
Seth breathed a sigh of relief, admitting, “I watched that very nervous that I had somehow taken you out so late that you would not perform well, but you were wonderful on that show."

Check out the segment below. Honestly, good on Lorde for living it up - this is the energy that we all have after the last couple of years.
