Lorde has clapped back at GQ after they said she sing's "Jack Anotnoff songs."
Antonoff, who collaborated with Lorde on Melodrama sat down with GQ for an interview on collaborating with Lorde as well as Taylor Swift and St. Vincent. It was then tweeted out with the caption, "Jack Antonoff is still writing Jack Antonoff songs—they just happen to be sung by people like Lorde now."
Lorde then responded to that tweet writing, "knew there was a way to describe the personal and skilful work that i do turns out it’s “singing jack antonoff songs”."
Antonoff also responded to the tweet clarifying, "we work together and she’s a genius. ironically this interview was about how i collaborate BUT don’t write for people."
This is the kind of stuff that female singers and songwriters have to deal with everyday. It seems everytime there's a male producer involved, the credit falls in their lap.
Thankfully Lorde and Antonoff aren't going to sit back and take that.
