You may have noticed a slightly worrying hashtag trending on Twitter, the internet's breeding ground of weirdness, about Lorde at the moment. #FreeLorde has been popping up over the last few days and we just want to clear up, contrary to popular belief, Lorde is not in fact in prison or in any way incarcerated.
The memes have basically emerged after the New Zealand National Party announced that they would start to penalise parents whose children dropped out of school before completion, and didn't go onto further study.
Basically... that's Lorde.
Lorde reportedly did not complete her last year of high school, instead dropping out at 16 to work on her game-changing and Grammy-nominated debut Pure Heroine, and now fans are joking she'll be sent to prison for it.
Obviously that's not gonna happen - but the memes are pretty good.
