    LoveRecordStores

Today we're launching our corner of the global initiative #LoveRecordStores, which launched on March 26th to show solidarity to the small independent record stores hit hard by the pandemic. We wanted to help out some of these record stores by launching a throwback Diggin' In The Crates series for the next three weeks and this article is where you'll see them all as they land.

We'll be sharing nine episodes from all the different record stores around Australia that we've taken some of the world's biggest acts to, from Bazzi to Best Coast, as well as a ton of local legends, like Alex Lahey, Allday and Client Liaison. We'll also be sharing the online store details for each record store and how to purchase from them during this time.

We'll keep updating with episodes every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday until May 1st, make sure you check back to watch them all, and we kicked off with a brand new episode featuring Hobo Johnson last week, shot at Sydney's Utopia Records.

The good news is, many of Australia's record stores have started to offer home delivery or local pick-up so here are a list of record stores you can purchase from over the phone or online.

    Season 1 Episode 1

Client Liaison at TITLE Surry Hills, Sydney

The best thing about TITLE is that they not only sell vinyl, but they also have an outstanding array of coffee table books, posters, art and novels, on top of their amazing collection of vinyl, CDs and DVDs.

Highly curated and beautifully stylised, the stores are a burst of colour and it's easy to get lost in their shelves for hours.

We took Aussie electronic boys Client Liaison to TITLE in Surry Hills to pick out some of their most influential records.

You can purchase from TITLE online from here - make sure you pay them a visit in Surry Hills or Barangaroo as soon as we're allowed to!

    Season 1 Episode 2

Alex Lahey at Red Eye Records, Sydney

Red Eye Records is Australia's biggest indie record store, with an encyclopaedic collection of vinyl as well as CDs, rare memoribilia, t-shirts and more. Housed within their trademark red walls, we've taken many music legends there including Nile Rodgers.

This episode features Aussie rocker Alex Lahey, picking up some of her most formative records including Paramore, The Killers and Bruce Springsteen.

You can still shop Red Eye Records' extensive collection online or by phone - head to their website here.

    Season 1 Episode 3

Alice Ivy at Northside Records, Melbourne

Northside Records has been around since 2002 in Fitzroy, specialising in hip hop, soul, funk and reggae. It's a cosy spot with heaps to look at and we took Melbourne producer Alice Ivy into pick up some soul/jazz classics.

In lieu of opening their stores, Northside are currently live-streaming their usual Saturday in-store gigs and selling through their Discogs profile - check out more info here.

    Season 2 Episode 1

    Bazzi at TITLE Barangaroo, Sydney

You already saw Client Liaison in the Surry Hills location of TITLE, and then we took Bazzi to the Barangaroo joint. It's a bright, sunny store right next to the water of Darling Harbour and Bazzi loved picking out classics like Prince, Dr Dre, Notorious B.I.G. and more.

You can purchase from TITLE online from here - make sure you pay them a visit in Surry Hills or Barangaroo as soon as we're allowed to!

    Season 2 Episode 2

Best Coast at Tym Guitars, Brisbane

Shot while the music conference BIGSOUND took over Fortitude Valley in Brisbane, Tym Guitars is a haven for any guitar or music lover and US indie rocker Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino loved her time perusing the racks.

Tym Guitars is equal parts a music gear store as it is a record store. Find a whole rack of vinyl among countless new and vintage guitars, amps, posters and instruments of all kinds, as well as a little stage for in-store performances for good measure. You can still shop Tym Guitars online at https://tymguitars.com.au/

    Season 2 Episode 3

Orbital at The Record Store, Sydney

We took electronic legends Orbital to a record store when they were in town and of course they were filled with stories and memories looking at all the vinyl.

Nestled in Surry Hills, The Record Store is a cosy store packed to the brim with new and pre-owned vinyl records as well as headphones, turntable accessories and more. You can still visit them in store (they have taken social distancing measures) or purchase online from https://www.recordstore.com.au/.

    Season 3 Episode 1

Winston Surfshirt at Red Eye Records, Sydney

We took Winston Surfshirt - and his dog Poppy - to Red Eye Records and they both loved its red racks.

Red Eye Records is Australia's biggest indie record store, with an encyclopaedic collection of vinyl as well as CDs, rare memoribilia, t-shirts and more. Housed within their trademark red walls, we've taken many music legends there including Nile Rodgers.

You can still shop Red Eye Records' extensive collection online or by phone - head to their website here.

    Season 3 Episode 2

SG Lewis at HUM on King, Sydney

Housed in the hustle of bustle of Newtown, HUM is a colourful store full of CDs, DVDs, vinyl and more from every genre you can think of. SG Lewis loved sifting through the shelves, picking up records from his mates in London Grammar, as well as sharing stories about Damon Albarn finding him sleeping on his studio couch.

HUM is still open seven days a week and taking social distancing measures while you shop.

    Season 3 Episode 3

    Allday at TITLE, Surry Hills

Yes, we love filming at TITLE because of their varied and colourful stores and gorgeous natural light, so we took Aussie rapper Allday into the Surry Hills store. He picked a bunch of records we wouldn't have suspected, including Van Morrison and Joni Mitchell, but that's why we love this series - it gives us an insight into an artist's inspirations, as diverse as they may be.

You can purchase from TITLE online from here - make sure you pay them a visit in Surry Hills or Barangaroo as soon as we're allowed to!
