It turns out INXS could have spared us the pain of the J.D. Fortune years had they just gone ahead and enlisted the services of Courtney Barnett to replace the late Michael Hutchence.

Armed with just her guitar and Aussier than Aussie vocal stylings she dared take on a classic record which for most artists, would end in sacrilege. Not this time though. This time we’re all just sort of stoked, right? Yeah we are.
When that first break-through single History Eraser dropped it seemed as though she may have peaked too early. Then Avant Gardener came through and yeah, lightning struck twice but that was probably the end of things. Except then she only bloody well ended up on one of those Jimmy whatshisface shows IN AMERICA! Sure, we’ve missed a few milestones in this recap but the point’s clear- She is all killer, no filler.
