Sydney producer extraordinaire Perto has remixed London singer-songwriter DYLAN's latest single, Sour Milk, and despite the title, the remix is sweet as can be.
Sour Milk tells a tale of a problematic relationship, which has expired like sour milk (hence the title). DYLAN is looking for a new love, a sweeter love, and doesn't want to hold onto a relationship that's gone bad.

Talking about writing the song, DYLAN said, "I wrote Sour milk to almost reassure myself that I wasn’t a dickhead, and that wanting someone when you can’t have them is normal. It’s about not being able to come to terms with how you are feeling. Many baking recipes call for sour milk, sometimes as a substitute for buttermilk.
"Buttermilk and sour milk are slightly acidic and are required to balance the acidity in the recipe’s ingredients. Milk that has gone sour on its own is spoiled and is unsafe to use. To make 1 cup (250 mL) sour milk for baking, use 1 tbsp (15 mL) vinegar or lemon juice and enough milk to equal 1 cup (250 mL). Stir and let stand for 5 minutes before using. This will give the right amount of acidity for the recipe. And that’s why I’m always lonely cause oUr lOvE iS sOUr."
The remix captures the energy of the original song, but turns it into a genuine dancefloor hit. It's the type of tune you can imagine Perto dropping during his next festival set, and the crowd going wild. Perto has an almost unmatched knack for knowing what he'll be able to turn into a hit, and he doesn't miss with his remixes.
When it comes to her musical goals, DYLAN says, “I want to be heard by as many people as possible, because I want to go global, because I want to speak to as many girls as possible – and boys. They need to hear this too!
"Let’s all be empowered by a sad song, and connect with it. I want to spark real, human emotion. Everyone is connected through music, right? Or, they should be.”
It's no wonder that Perto decided to remix her latest single, and as the results show, it's a banger. Sour MIlk is off DYLAN's debut EP, Purple, which showcases DYLAN's finely-tuned songwriting, as well as her ability to write a killer hook.
