Hip-hop music comes faster than any other genre. It's not uncommon for a rapper to drop upwards of three projects a year and while that's great, it becomes increasingly hard to stay on top of it. 'The Rap Wrap' is our attempt to keep you in the know on the weekly. This week, we're giving you a new Drake freestyle plus a wild Charli XCX collaboration.
Charli XCX - Shake It (Feat. Cupcakke, Big Freedia, Pabllo Vittar & Brooke Candy)
Charli XCX's new album Charli is a wild mash of genres and it never gets crazier than on Shake It when a superclass of rap's boundary-pushers come together. The beat is also a mind-bending trip.
JPEGMAFIA - Beta Male Struggles
JPEGMAFIA has dropped his highly anticipated record All My Friends Are Cornballs and it's a masterpiece. Self-produced and written it's a wild trip that needs to be heard in full. If we have to cherry-pick though we're going with this experimental cut Beta Male Struggles.
Drake - Behind Barz
Drake has been busy producing a new series of British series Top Boy and he's added to the soundtrack. This originally debuted as a freestyle but now he's sent it out onto streaming services.
Dave - Professor X
Speaking of said series, Dave stars in it and also makes a notable appearance on the soundtrack. Professor X is an A-grade grime track that continues a landmark year for him.
Slowthai & Denzel Curry - Psycho
Slowthai and Denzel Curry have been teasing this one for a while on the festival circuit but they've finally dropped it for us. It's a manic, frantic cut that races at an incredible pace.
Migos, Karol G & Snoop Dogg - My Family
Before you enter in we must warn you that it's a sample of The Addams Family. There's a new film coming out and this mis-matched rap trio have come together to record a surprisingly entertaining theme.
