Perth drum'n'bass king ShockOne (real name Karl Thomas) first gave us a taste of the Dark Machine project back in November last year with the breakbeat-driven Underloved, but today he's dropped a blockbuster collab with The Bloody Beetroots that's darker, twisted and way more thrilling, called Run.
Run will be the opening track of ShockOne's next album A Dark Machine and it's arrived with a spooky, sci-fi visual that sets the scene for what we can expect from the record.
"Run is the opening song of my album and therefore the beginning of the album narrative and the Dark Machine world I wanted to create. It was super important to me for the video to be a clear vision of what I had in my head from the very beginning of this project. When the whole concept for this album first materialised in my mind, I always had strong visual images stuck in my mind, almost as if I was writing a soundtrack to a movie that only exists in my head," he says.
The Bloody Beetroots' Sir Bob adds, "I loved working with Karl every single minute. This collaboration takes me back to the very early days of the electro revolution, but with a contemporary twist. Lots of fun even on landing some lyrics and vocals. Something I do very rarely."
The album will boast 13 tracks and guests like Reija Lee, Cecil (who we heard on Underloved), Cruz Patterson and more and will land on August 2nd as he kicks off a national tour the same day, ending with SnowTunes Festival in the snow.
