The American academic year has just begun, despite the country still being in the thick of a pandemic, and to help students who might be feeling the pressure of paying their uni fees, Travis Scott has offered to help five lucky college students with their first semester of fees.
His only criteria? That they be enrolled in an HBCU (Historically Black College or University) - one of 101 higher education facilities established before America's Civil Rights movement which were created to primarily serve Black students.
“I KNOW SCHOOL JUST STARTED AND I WANNA TAKE CARE OF 5 KIDS TUITION FOR THERE FIRST SEMESTER OF SCHOOL,” he said on Twitter. His own parents attended HBCUs - his mum graduated from Grambling State University while his dad went to Prairie View A&M University.
Travis himself didn't go to an HBCU - he was enrolled at the University Of Texas, San Antonio before dropping out to pursue music.

It's refreshing to see artists give back to their community, particularly the young people in the Black community who are at the cusp of starting their careers and are hit with astronomical (pun intended) tuition fees.
He must be in a generous mood because it's not just tuition he's helping with - he's even hooked a couple of fans up with AirPods, a Sony PS5 and Astroworld merch.
Just last week Travis dropped the first single FRANCHISE from his new era, UTOPIA, featuring Young Thug and M.I.A.
You're a real one, Cactus Jack.
