If you don't already know the name Bella Poarch, then it's time to get acquainted. Not content with conquering TikTok, she's just released her debut single, Build A Bitch, and it's an absolute BOP.
She's the third-biggest TikTok star, and she's set to be the next dark-pop sensation if her debut track is anything to go by. Build A Bitch is a track that talks about the scrutiny that comes with having such a large online following.
Speaking about the track, Bella says, “Build A Bitch is about accepting yourself for who you are instead of listening to other people’s ideas of what you should do or how you should look. I hope it helps people to feel more confident and good about themselves, and also reminds them not to judge anyone else.”
The track also comes with a video, featuring the likes of ZHC, Valkyrae, Mia Khalifa, Sub Urban and more. It builds on the theme of Build A Bitch, focusing on a Build-A-Bear-style factory. However, it doesn't all go to plan for the men at the factory, who are building their 'ideal woman'. You'll have to watch the video to see what happens next. Once you have, read on to find out all about Bella Poarch!
Who is she?
Bella Poarch might be a TikTok star, but she's got an interesting background. She's a U.S Navy veteran, and she's always loved singing. Growing up on a tiny farm in the Philippines, Bella taught herself ukulele, performing despite her parents' disapproval.
She holds the record for the most likes on a TikTok video - getting 49 million+ likes on an August 2020 post, and she's now based in L.A, where she's planning her domination of the music industry.
Speaking to Vogue, she spoke about making the leap from TikTok to music. She says, "Music is something I take seriously and it’s a dream come true. I manifested it and I told myself no matter how I get there, I will get there.
"There’s definitely a lot of negatives—it’s not in my favor that I started out as an influencer and people think I’m just starting to make music when, actually, I’ve been doing it my whole life. And I know there’s a lot of hate and negativity recently about TikTokers making music. But at the end of the day, I don’t give a [shit]. I’m just doing what I love to do."
What does her music sound like?
Build A Bitch, which was produced by Sub Urban and written by Bella, calls to mind artists like Melanie Martinez. It's a dark-pop track that's slightly spooky, slightly unnerving and super catchy. If you like music that could be played in a haunted mansion, then you'll dig Bella Poarch's music.
Speaking to Vogue, Bella spoke about what else she wants to talk about in her music, saying, "There’s still a lot I have to say and want to talk about—mental health, my past, and more. I’ll do it at the right time. I know I’m still young, but there’s a lot that people don’t know about me and I feel like I’ve had 10 lifetimes already. I’m just getting started."
How did she become famous?
Bella went viral on TikTok after lip-syncing to Blackpool grime artist Sophie Aspin's diss track M to the B, which TikTok loved. It went on to be the biggest video on TikTok in 2020.

However, if you ask some TikTok users, Bella actually sold her soul to the devil in exchange for TikTok fame. The theory stems from a video that Bella posted with her face painted like the devil, which of course, means she must have sold her soul. There's clearly no other explanation...

Of course, if you actually sold your soul, you wouldn't tell everyone about it, nor leave hints. Sounds like some people are just jealous of Bella's success.

Yeah doing trendy things, dressing up and applying make up according to the current fashion styles makes you popular, but we're gonna ignore all the hardwork and, instead credit illuminati for someone's success.
