Earl Sweatshirt is the member of the OFWGKTA crew with the most solo potential and he has gone and backed up that statement with his new song and video - Whoa.
The new release is pretty textbook Odd Future business, Tyler the Creator vocals - CHECK, a video full of the crew and their friends making cameos - CHECK and an almost constant reference to the Golf Wang - CHECK.
Earl is really making some different and interesting music of late but if anything this track stays true to the more traditional OF style. The beat is super simple which really helps Earl’s natural and easy going flow stand out. While it is Sweatshirt’s release the second half of the song seems to belong to Tyler, dropping a few verses and some well earned gloating about the now very successful crew.
This release leads me to think that Doris may not be that far away and I for one am excited to see what this young and exciting rapper can do when he puts his first full LP together since his return to the OF crew late last year after a far too long hiatus.
