Super Bowl LIV kicks off today and while we're not super culturally involved with it here in Australia, we always love seeing the ingenious ads that pour out of the big-budget ad slot.
Last year, Cardi B featured in a Pepsi ad alongside Steve Carell and Lil Jon, and this year the rapper on show is YBN Cordae, the Grammy-nominated 22-year-old voice making waves for his soulful, political rap and frankly, very awesome relationship with tennis superstar girlfriend Naomi Osaka.
The ad is for the new Coca-Cola Energy drink and also stars legendary director Martin Scorsese and actor Jonah Hill. Funnily enough, when asked by Billboard what he thought about being called up for the ad, he said he had no idea who Scorsese was.
"I didn't know who Martin Scorsese was. I was born in ‘97, but I heard him in a Drake line [on Tuscan Leather] that was tough: “Life is soundin' crazy, 40 on Martin Scorsese/ And I wouldn't change a thing if you paid me.”
Cordae getting spotlighted on one of the most-watched football games in the world - we love to see it!
