Hype Machine recently crunched the numbers and worked out the 50 most blogged jams of 2013 and instead of serving up another boring ass list they enlisted the artistic skillz of Seamus Gallagher to add some pretty great illustrations to accompany each track.
YES!! Andrew Weatherall has got his dirty mitts on Jagwar Ma’s Come Save Me… You’ve got to love it when a remix pairing makes us much sense as this. Get your stream on below.
One of the better parts of life is the ability to snag a free door pass or two, and thus to check out acts that otherwise would be too expensive to bother seeing (what is it with the price of tickets?). So this weekend I set out to exploit that right in full, flushed by the relative success of Fidlar/Dune Rats live. That gig had most of the normal shortcomings – horrible sound, bad sightlines, over priced drinks but also a pleasant freshness and intensity and a lively moshpit. Live music was redeemed for a moment.
I start my day off at MOKHA sipping on a Machiatto with Tracey and Steven. Steven works for the promoter and stays with the Cold War Kids when in New York. Tracey is tour managing Mumford And Sons and has had a on-again-off-again thing with one of the members of Empire of The Sun. I never remember which one. I read the morning paper and smoke a rolled cigarette, I don’t like polluting my body with tailoreds.
