When it comes to Christmas songs, there are songs we've heard over and over - so it might just be time to update your Christmas playlists. Luckily, some of our favourite artists have dropped festive tracks just in time for the Christmas season.

We've taken a look at the best Christmas tracks that have been released this year, so you can have the coolest Christmas yet. Ask your family to pass you the aux cord, and turn these up loud.

Creed Tha Kid, Mason Dane and Cyprus - Mistletoe

If you're looking to get the Christmas party started, then Brisbane wunderkind Creed Tha Kid has you covered with his new track Mistletoe. He's brought in Mason Dane and Cyprus for the Christmas tune, and it'll get stuck in your head for days.

It's not often that you hear a Christmas track that could be played at the club, but Mistletoe is perfect for a Christmas party with your mates. Turn it up loud, and dust off your best dance moves. It's time to boogie.

Summer Walker & Love Renaissance - Santa Baby

Appearing on Love Renaissance's compilation Home For The Holidays, Summer Walker's sultry cover of Santa Baby is exactly the update the classic Christmas carol needed for 2020.

Summer embodies the lyrics of the original track, while adding a new level of charm to the track. The video sees her calling Santa a "cutie", because she wants soe checks for Christmas, and nothing's going to stop her getting her way.

    100 gecs - sympathy 4 the grinch

100 gecs have behaved themselves this year, but Santa hasn't delivered. That's why they're taking things into their own hands. Sympathy 4 the grinch sees band members Laura Les and Dylan Brady both contributing vocals, and they're out to steal from Santa.

The track is a mix of hyper-pop and ska, and while 100 gecs might not have gotten the haul of presents they wanted, their fans have gotten the best gift they could have hoped for - a Christmas track with a seriously cool edge. Save this one for later in the Christmas lunch, but this might just turn your family onto 100 gecs.

HONNE - Warm On A Christmas Night

Providing a Christmas-themed twist on their track Warm On A Cold Night, HONNE are helping you feel cozier than ever with their new Christmas track.

Warm On A Christmas Night contains a piano line that's reminiscent of classic Christmas songs. While we don't exactly have fireplaces roaring at night during an Australian Christmas, this track will make you feel like you're watching it snow outside.

    Jack Gray - Winter City

Jack Gray's Winter City is a love song for that special someone. If you're looking to spend this Christmas with someone, this is the track to send them to let them know how you really feel.

Jack's voice soars on the track, as he sings about a love that he promises will get "easier". Love isn't always straightforward, but Jack promises it's worth the effort - and we're more than happy to believe him.

The Weeknd & Sabrina Claudio - Christmas Blues

Sabrina Claudio recently linked up with The Weeknd for the festive Christmas Blues, and it's the perfect mix of smooth R&B and Christmas cheer.

Sabrina's voice carries the track, as she sings about that special someone that she wants with her at Christmas time. The Weeknd harmonises with Sabrina to help elevate the track, and they sound great together - this is truly a gift to their fans.

Twenty One Pilots - Christmas Saves The Year

Twenty One Pilots heard that their fans needed a bit of cheering up, so they've decided to drop a Christmas song to talk about the year that was 2020. Christmas Saves The Year was recorded at singer Tyler Joseph's home studio, and it's set to make things just a little bit more cheerful around the Christmas table.

Twenty One Pilots are clearly big fans of Christmas, and can't wait for it to arrive this year. After all, they sing on the track that "Even if the world is crumbling down… You rest assured, Christmas saves the year.” If you're looking for a Christmas sing-along the whole family can get behind, but also isn't a track you've heard time after time, then you'll want to play this during Christmas dinner.

Ty Dolla $ign (feat. Kiana Ledé) - Alone For Christmas

Ty Dolla $ign and Kiana Ledé are sick of FaceTiming, and they want the world to know. Alone For Christmas is all about how "wild" 2020 has been, and how he's putting "Family over everything" this Christmas season.

The track is an R&B-infused modern Christmas carol, and we can't get enough of it. They're both excited to go home for Christmas and see their loved ones - because after all, that's what Christmas is all about.

Carly Rae Jepsen - It's Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries

Who says Christmas songs have to always be happy? Carly Rae Jepsen recently released It's Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries, which is her way of explaining what actually happens at Christmas - and comes with a video where her whole family ends up in tears. It's a deceptively upbeat track, but the lyrics describe a Christmas that's fallen apart.

Speaking about the track, Carly says, “I love the old-fashioned movies and the family traditions and the excitement of gifting presents and decorating the tree and and and… my list is endless. But each year the pressure to have the perfect Christmas always ends in tears. I call it Christmas versus expectation." We're hoping that your Christmas get-together doesn't end like this - but if it does, this song will make you feel like you're not alone in a Christmas disaster.

Chance The Rapper - The Return

Chance The Rapper has had an interesting 2020, but he's hoping to put that all behind him with The Return, which might just be his way to re-announce himself to the world. The track sees Chance spitting over a warm beat,  and The Return might just be the hardest Christmas carol we've heard.

The track will feature on the deluxe edition of his collaborative Christmas mixtape with Jeremih, Merry Christmas Lil Mama: The Gift That keeps On Giving. It's a Christmas gift to rap lovers everywhere, and this is one gift that's best when it's (w)rapped.
