A self-proclaimed lover not a fighter, Canadian-via-Abu Dhabi singer/songwriter Ali Gatie had big shoes to fill in following up his absolutely massive single It's You. The love song resonated with listeners all around the world and built Ali a dedicated millions of fans, and now he's dropped a follow-up to the hit called Used To You.
It's another love song, though now it seems we're seeing the latter chapters of a relationship. It's the mournful realisation that that person you love isn't gonna be around anymore and starting the long progress of working through a break-up.
INTERVIEW: How Ali Gatie Went From Sending Voice Memo Songs To Girls To Having A Top 20 Single
Speaking to Cool Accidents earlier this year, Ali explained, "I’d always be singing in the shower. And I’d always just write poetry. That was a big thing for me. That was for myself but when I got a bit older, I’d send poems to girls. I was that guy. I’d do little cute stuff like that. I’d be singing covers of Bruno Mars to girls, send them voice notes."
He finally made the leap into the studio three-and-a-half years ago when he met a rapper friend, and the rest as they say is history.
