Byron Bay's own Asher is ending 2020 with a bang, dropping his new single Idols. It's a tribute to the musicians that made him want to make music, and those who have helped him shape his creations.
Asher shouts out the likes of The Kid Laroi, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Uzi Vert and many, many more - with each of them helping him to find the sounds he wants to create.
You'll have to check out the video to see whether your favourite musician got a mention from Asher, and by the way he's going, it's not going to be that long until people are shouting him out as an influence on their own tracks.
Speaking about the track, Asher says, “This song is an homage to all of the people that influenced and inspired me to make music and start on this journey… I wouldn’t be anything without my Idols.”
Even before dropping his first track, Asher knew he wanted to chase his music dream. He learnt to make beats in his bedroom, and dropped out of high school to make music his career.
He researched the music industry for six months, looking at the artists whose careers he wanted to emulate. Travis Scott, Lil Durk, Laroi and more all featured in Asher's research, and he's just getting started.
The track is accompanied by a video created by For Urban UK Animations. Asher looks great in cartoon form, and it features the rappers he's shouting out in cartoon form too.
