Billie Eilish has entered a new era, shedding her signature green and black hair for a blonde look, but it was almost revealed before it was time.
Speaking to Laura Snapes for British Vogue, Billie mentions that she had a custom green and black wig made to hide the blonde hairdo at the Grammys (which some eagle-eyed fans worked out), but it nearly came undone.
In the interview, Laura writes, "Before her custom hairpiece arrived, a last-minute video appearance forced her to buy a Billie Eilish Halloween costume from Amazon."
It turns out that even Billie Eilish needed a Billie Eilish costume, and it helped her hide the secret of her blonde hair, which she revealed in a record-breaking Instagram post.
Of course, we now know that the blonde hairdo is part of the rollout for her new album, Happier Than Ever, which is out on July 30th.
It's a more timeless look than the green and black hair, which ties into the more jazz-influenced of Your Power, as well as the snippet of music she shared on Instagram.
Elsewhere in the chat, Billie talks about body image and body positivity, and the recent discourse around her (which had some very sexist undertones). Her attitude towards the topic is simple. “It’s all about what makes you feel good. If you want to get surgery, go get surgery. If you want to wear a dress that somebody thinks that you look too big wearing, f**k it – if you feel like you look good, you look good.”
Next time you're looking for a Halloween costume, it's worth looking for a Billie Eilish-themed one online. If it's good enough for Billie, then it's good enough for the rest of us.
