Cardi B doesn't do things by halves. She's just released her new single, Hot Shit, and she's teamed up with Kanye West (now legally known as Ye) and Lil Durk for the track. Is it just us or did the temperature just go up by a few degrees?
Kanye and Cardi aren't afraid to flex their luxurious lifestyles on Hot Shit, while Lil Durk describes the track as "drop a opp music". There's something for everyone here, and together the trio sound unstoppable. All three rappers shine on the Tay Keith and BanBwoi-produced beat, and Cardi uses the occasion to shout out Fijian wrestler Jimmy Snuka and the late 2Pac. Cardi's coming in from the top rope.
Cardi's laser-focused bars are a reminder that she's still at the top of her game. If you had the audacity to doubt her, then Hot Shit will set you straight. She's as confident as ever, and why wouldn't she be? Bars like "I don't know what's longer, man, my blocklist or my checklist/I don't know what's colder, man, my heart or my necklace" are instantly quotable and instantly memorable. Go get what's yours.
The song is Cardi's first single in 2022, but we've heard a couple of guest verses from her so far this year. She recently appeared on No Love (Extended Version) alongside Summer Walker and SZA, and she showed up for the Bronx on Shake It alongside Kay Flock, Dougie B and Bory300.
Speaking to Apple Music 1's Zane Lowe about working with Ye, Cardi revealed, “Kanye gave me this verse a couple of months ago when he was just all over the media, because of all of the things that were going on. I like how his verse, it’s personal, but it’s not that personal.”
