It's been two years since CHVRCHES' second record Every Open Eye but they're already hard at work on the follow-up.
The Scottish group are working with super producer Greg Kurstin who is famous for his work with Adele and Sia who has been pushing them to be "bigger" and "weirder".
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly frontwoman Lauren Mayberry said, “When I listen to the record, I feel like it’s the most pop stuff we’ve done and also the most aggressive and vulnerable at the same time."
"It was about really leaning into those moments — and also wanting there to be a real humanity and character to what we’re saying.”
As for the lyrics, the album is going to be outward looking, assessing the world at large.
“I was looking at the world and realizing that we are both the best and the worst — humanity does all of this to itself," Mayberry said.
"[The album] is about questioning why we are where we are and how do we reconcile with that.”
No word yet on when the record will be out but it sounds like it's coming along nicely.
