Melbourne singer-songwriter Dylan J (fka Dylan Joel) has returned with his new single, Notice Me, and it's absolutely hypnotising. The track features Aussie superstar Ruel, and the pair's chemistry means the track is one of the most seamless collabs you'll hear this year.
The track is a melodic back-and-forth between Dylan and Ruel, with the pair sharing vocal duties throughout. It's a song about the perils of being single, as well as being desperate for someone's attention, which makes it pretty darn relatable.
Speaking about the track, Dylan says, “Ruel and I have been friends for 6 years and we always talked about making a song together. So it’s definitely time we released one.” Ruel added to this, saying, “we wrote this song when Dyl was staying at my family’s house around 2-3 years ago. We went into my little makeshift studio (which only really had a laptop and speakers) then tried to make something we both related to.”
The video for the track is absolutely adorable, featuring a host of four-legged friends. Directed by Emma Zoller, Dylan explains how it came about, saying, “We built most of the concept for this music video together, on the way to FOMO festival in Sydney. Kevin Abstract reached out to Ruel to link up at the festival and I was just tagging along, also helping Ruel get his hours up on his L’s.”
