10 years ago, Kim Kardashian decided to record a track with producer The-Dream, after he pitched the idea to her. The eventual track, Jam (Turn It Up), didn't change music forever, but it was a fun period in her career.
Kim had some support for the idea, and both Kanye West and Ciara were excited to see what eventuated. As part of her show with Kourtney, Kourtney And Kim Take New York, the studio session was filmed - and it looks like one hell of a time.
pitched the idea of a pop track by the-dream in late 2010, kardashian's musical foray was met with encouragement by pal ciara and the reality star's then-rumored lover kanye west, chronicling the recording process in an episode of her show "kourtney and kim take new york": pic.twitter.com/O0rkqQqZIn

The track would eventually premiere on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, but the reception wasn't exactly glowing. A video with Kanye, directed by Hype Williams, never eventuated, except for the below snippet.
but despite promises of a video of her own, the visual accompaniment to kardashian's track - directed by hype williams and featuring a purported cameo by west - was never to see the light of day, beyond a brief oily snippet leaking onto the internet later that august: pic.twitter.com/vprdgDGGbX

Kim would later go on to say the song was one of her biggest regrets, which is a bit sad to hear. After all, it wasn't THAT bad, was it?
and in the years since, kardashian's expressed shame over the musical lark, telling andy cohen in 2014 it was one of her greatest regrets, selling roughly 60,000 copies of the song to date - a mere fraction of ex-pal hilton's hit "stars are blind," but still more than "popozao": pic.twitter.com/rEc7Olr51X

Speaking about the track to Sway Calloway, The-Dream explained that the track was his idea - and he didn't regret it one bit. "I'm the one that actually called her to do it.
"This was very, very — believe it or not — a very fun moment for me. It's one of my lightest musical moments. ... It wasn't about kicking off a singing career; it was us really having the power of TV and goofing off."
