19 years old and already this good? Outrageous. Sydneysider Lara Andallo is one of the dopest new voices on the Australian R&B scene and we're just frothing over her new tune Said&Done.
It's one of those inescapable bops that you have to put on when you're getting ready for a night out with your girls. Your make-up's on point, you're ignoring those texts from that boy you like because you're having too much fun, and the speakers are turned up way too loud and annoying the neighbours.
“On the surface, Said&Done is about getting glammed up and ready to go, but for me, it’s also about doing things that empower you and make you feel good. Putting yourself on and not letting anyone mess with your vibe,” Lara tells us.
"Said&Done makes me feel like a boss lady. It’s that self-love, bad bitch mood you feel, straight after you get ready. When you're looking in the mirror and just feel real cute and good about yourself."
It reminds us more than a little bit of the golden era of feminist R&B - the early 2000s - when the likes of Ciara, Christina Milian, Mya and Ashanti reigned supreme. Lara's not creating throwback music though - Said&Done feels very much updated for 2019 with sleek trap-infused production.
To cap off release day for her, Lara's also lent her backing vocals today to Wafia for her Like A Version on triple j, covering Troye Sivan's My My My! and Wafia's new single Flowers & Superpowers.
