Kanye West's Monster turns 7 today but when we talk about Monster it's rarely Yeezy we're talking about.
It featured Nicki Minaj's most iconic verse ever, one that launched her as one of the heavyweight rap stars and also became a centrepiece of Kanye's incredible My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album.
On Twitter, Minaj has done some reminiscing about the verse and says that there was a point when it looked like Monster wouldn't be on the album.
"Kanye called me to tell me Jay put a verse on this song & that he was still deciding if he would put it on his album," she wrote on Instagram.
"It was like an hour long call where I tried to convince him to let the song stay on his album. He felt this verse would end up being the talk of the album. I said: YOU’RE KANYE WEST!!!!"
She further thanked Kanye for being the "genius" that he is.
"You always put others first. I fought u every step of the way but it worked out."
