Post Malone has just released his new album, Twelve Carat Toothache, and it turns out that he's not an artist that always spends hours in the studio writing his lyrics. Instead, a lot of his lyrics are written "on the can". What a world.
Speaking on The Howard Stern Show, Posty opened up about his creative process. He revealed, “Shit literally comes to me because I write all my songs on the can. I’d say about 30 percent of all my albums have been written on the shitter. And I’d say 60 percent of lyrics have been written on the shitter.”
After asking Howard Stern how long he spends on the toilet, Posty admitted that he spends an "hour and a half, two hours" on the toilet, because that's where inspiration strikes. He went on to say, "It’s my special zone, ’cause no one wants to come talk to you while you’re taking a shit. No one. I don’t care who it is." We have to admit, he's not wrong.
If this changes the way you view Posty's music, then we apologise. However, his track record can't be denied. The process even sounds poetic in a way, as he told Howard that "I wouldn’t say it’s a hideaway as much as an oasis.” Posty's found his palace, and it just happens to be a bathroom.
