Melbourne-based, South-African born R&B artist Ceeko is no stranger to love, and the pain that it can cause. We're excited to be premiering his latest single, Messed Up, which sees him talking about the heartache that love can cause. He was in a relationship with someone that didn't have his best interests at heart, and that tore him apart.
It's a song that'll remind you of some of the biggest R&B records of the 2000s, but with Ceeko's signature twist. The guitar licks will get stuck in your head long after you're done listening to the song, and Ceeko's vocals will have you coming back for more.
The story of young love parallels the unhealthy industry relationships Ceeko once had, and it's a way of him moving on from those that might have held him back. Ceeko's in a position where he can see things for what they really are, and that's meant he's able to reflect on his past relationships.
Speaking about the track, Ceeko says, "I want this track to help people move on and get over heartbreak. It’s not always an intimate love, heartbreak can be felt from any relationship you invest emotion in. To then have that slap you in the face - it can hurt. I wanted to create something to help people move on."
Messed Up will be on his upcoming EP Where Do We Begin, which won't just look at the heartbreak of love, but also the successes. Ceeko's experienced all the emotions that come along with love, so he wants to bring all the lessons he's learnt to the table.
