Rihanna's ANTI has officially turned 5 years old. At one point, we would've imagined celebrating this event with one or two more RiRi albums in our hands but we don't want to rush our successful tycoon. 

The album dropped back in 2016, preceded by the first single Work. It arrived under slightly messy circumstances, as Tidal prematurely leaked a stream of the album two hours before it officially released. 

It was a spoiled surprise but it didn't impact its sales as it flew to number one in the US alongside the single Work. 

Critics reviews were lukewarm upon arrival but as the decade went on, the praise got louder and louder. So much so that by the end of the decade, it was high on Best of the Decade lists by Pitchfork, Billboard, NME and more. It also landed at number 230 on Rolling Stones' Greatest Albums Of All Time list. 

Once upon a time we waited a year in between drops from Rihanna but it's been a very long time in between drinks now. News about a forthcoming album has been resigned to RiRi trolling fans on social media.

Obviously, 5 years is a chance to celebrate an iconic album but it's also a significant stamp of how long we've been waiting for new Rihanna.

Imo Rihanna can take her time as the Avon Lady coz we didn't give ANTI the respect it deserved. Not to say other albums that got the accolades that year didn't deserve it. ANTI was just robbed.
