Now although it may seem like Macklemore & Ryan Lewis came out of nowhere like the invisible man masturbating when their new record The Heist popped up on the Australian iTunes chart when it was released last week, there’s a little more to it than that.
If you do your homework, you’ll see that the award winning Sydney hip hop radio program In The Red on 2ser spun a tune off the album called ‘Thrift Shop’ on the 31st of August and obviously that moment on community radio built enough hype and created the wave that led to the US duo landing in the Oz charts.

It’s pretty damn hard not to fall in love with the faux leopardskin, crazy choppers, the big mama, rockin’ the batman onesie and the dude who looks like that actor in the pink suit (maybe he is that actor?).
And yeah, I know it has some bad words in it and that line about “smelling like R Kelly’s sheets” is a bit much but c’mon radio (apart from that In The Red program with it’s finger on the pulse of course) grow some and give it a spin already.
