You may have heard the name THEY. going around given that they're in town next week supporting none other than 6LACK, but aside from the ambiguous band name, who are they? We're about to introduce you to the next bright star on the alt-R&B horizon.
The duo from Los Angeles consist of Dante Jones and Drew Love and they've just dropped a brand new track with Wiz Khalifa called What I Know Now.
What's special about these guys is their knack for fusing different genres like grunge, pop and R&B together - this new song features a crisp electric guitar riff, backing Drew and Dante's smooth R&B vocals and a strong hit of hip hop care of Wiz's verse.
THEY. already have an EP and a debut album under their belt, as well as support from Timbaland and even a collab with ZHU and Skrillex from back in 2015 called Working For It. Now, they've got another EP on the horizon called Fireside, this time with features from Jeremih, Ty Dolla $ign, Vic Mensa, Jessie Reyez and Gallant.
Drew Love has also stepped out on his own a handful of times, providing vocals to tracks like Brisbane band Vancouver Sleep Clinic's Closure, The Chainsmokers' Somebody and G-Eazy's Love Is Gone.
You'll be hearing a lot more from THEY. soon enough so get on board early. THEY. are playing a Melbourne headline show on October 11th and a Sydney headline show on October 17th, as well as shows with 6LACK until October 18th.
THEY.'s Fireside EP is due out on November 6th.
