Over and over we have raved about the new psychedelia this year. We totally love Wooden Shjips and in particular the packaging for their new super deluxe vinyl.
Which is die cut, spot varnished and embossed and all that good stuff that makes a perfect stocking filler.
With a double headline of this calibre, who wouldn’t expect the security guards to be boogying too. Whilst New Yorkers dangled their feet from the second floor balcony of Terminal 5 in Hells Kitchen, security with big bellies were loving mixing up a rogue crowd-surfer chase down dance with a bit of a shuffle-bop.
Life has gone a bit psychedelic at the moment. It seems to be the new style thanks to Tame Impala & Cloud Control. To celebrate the release of Tame offshoot Pond’s wonderous “Hobo Rocket” mini album we could just have played Xanman which is surely a hit in a parallel place that’s better to be in.
As if we needed any more reasons to love Natasha Khan aka Bat For Lashes but she’s just gone and given us a fair few more by way of her ridiculously good taste in music.
The mega babe recently presented her first ever radio show on BBC’s Radio 6 and man did she knock it out of the park! Her selections were a real mixed bag with tracks from Heart, RUN DMC, Talking Heads, SBTRKT, Prince, Outkast, Le Tigre, The Kinks and heaps more.
There is quite a bit of hullabaloo about a new wave of psychedelic bands, and to be fair Australia – thanks to the wonderful Tame Impala and the even greater Pond – are right at the forefront.
