It’s one of the privileges in the music business to meet and work with great people, but in general most of them are musicians. So there was always a special frisson to any opportunity to meet Storm Thorgerson, who was a creative brain in a different space. Suddenly money became no object and I did anything I could to make his vision happen with a genuine excitement.
One of our fave Sydney art galleries, ma. gallery is turning 4 next week and chucking a pretty sweet bday bash to celebrate the occasion.
Meet Fuuki, he’s someone you might soon bump in to, if you call Sydney home.
For the last few years, he’s been found on the papers of a notebook but recently thanks to corn starch and a paintbrush he’s been popping up in the inner suburbs of the city, leading to a spade of sightings on Instagram feeds, blogs, and even tattooed on to a couple of bodies of complete strangers around the world.
Yesterday I dropped into Higher Ground, the studio sanctuary of Bennett to have a chat about serial hoarding, stationary scavenging in Japan and his upcoming solo show at Soldiers Rd Gallery….

Now as we anxiously await the be arrival in Australia of the best of the “new school of art” (or indiellectual as its been dubbed in the ever labelling UK press) in the form of Django Django here’s a new twist to video making.
So there’s an art exhibition starting tonight at Kind Of Gallery on Oxford St which will feature artworks inspired by everyone’s favourite Cookie Monster impersonator Tom Waits.
It was born from the staff at Kind Of and their devotion/love of Waits’ music.
Local Sydney lad and friend of the Cool Accidents family - BENNETT is putting on a introspective pop up exhibition of new artworks & installations titled Can We Fly? at Blank Space in Surry Hills.
