Brisbane's Day1 has just dropped his new EP, Day UNO, and it features a monster link-up with another big Australian rapper, Sydney's Hooligan Hefs.
The pair have linked up for Magic, which features Day1 bringing a huge hook, while Hefs comes through with a killer verse. Produced by Liam Thomas, this is one you'll want to have blaring in your car while you're driving.
The music video for the track was produced by Moonboy Studios, and it features a stack of slick-looking vehicles. It's also a reminder that Day1 and Hefs have people willing to ride for them, so they're not to be messed with.
Speaking about the collab, Day1 says, “This one is a crazy link up, the 67 to the 4122, Hefs always been supporting. We're putting on for our cities, shoutout to everyone involved they killed it, the video is f%$ked! Shout out Moonboy studios.”
It's the second time in a week we've heard a track from the pair, with Day1 jumping on Hefs' new single, Hoodstar. Just like Magic, it packs a serious punch, and we're tipping that we'll be hearing the pair working together more in the future.
Day Uno is Day1's debut EP, and it comes after a string of successful singles including BOSS, Riding, Wavey, and a remix of A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's Mood Swings. It's the best showcase yet of his ear for killer production, as well as his ability to write a hook that stays with you long after the track's done.
Speaking about the EP, Day1 says it's “the start of something big, a new era of myself. This EP is a statement that I’m versatile as an artist and Day UNO is bigger than Day1, it’s the team behind Day1's time to show what we've got.”
