Listening to FKA twigs is a spiritual experience for many, which makes the location for her NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert especially fitting. FKA twigs performed a trio of songs at London's St. Matthias Church as part of the iconic concert series, putting on a vocal masterclass.
Backed by Kelly Nicole Moran on piano, Damsel Elysium on double bass/violin and Lucinda Chua on cello, twigs used the occasion to perform Home With You and Cellophane. Both tracks are highlights from her beloved 2019 album MAGDALENE, and the strings/piano elevate FKA twigs' angelic vocals throughout the performance.
Her setlist also included the debut performance of her forthcoming single Killer, which she wrote on Instagram is "for baddies with a tear in their eye". It's set to be released on June 16th, and opens with the lyrics, "It's dangerous to be a woman in love". Bring it on.
FKA twigs released her CAPRISONGS mixtape back in January, and it's a project that features collaborations with The Weeknd, Pa Salieu, Jorja Smith/Unknown T and more. CAPRISONGS is an eclectic project that sees FKA twigs exploring more joyful and carefree sounds. Prior to its release, twigs wrote on social media that "CAPRISONGS is my journey back to myself through my amazing collaborators and friends.
