Halsey is going all out for her upcoming Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross-produced fourth album, If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power, and she's announced that there's set to be a film soundtracked by songs from the album.
They've worked with director Collin Tilley on the film, who's previously worked with her on the videos for Without Me and You Should be Sad, with Halsey writing the film.
As the trailer opens, it says, “This film is about the lifelong social labyrinth of sexuality and birth. The greatest horror stories never told were buried with the bodies of those who died in that labyrinth..." The trailer then shows Halsey suffering at the hands of Medieval rituals, while their pregnancy plays out.
Halsey's always created worlds around their albums, but this feels like a step up. The trailer for the film feels Game-Of-Thrones-esque (with a healthy dose of modern-day life), so we can't wait to see what the full film is set to look like.
Speaking about their pregnancy with Allure, she says, “When this pregnancy started, I was like, ‘You’re going to do yoga and eat flaxseed. You’re going to use essential oils and hypnobirth and meditate and fucking journal every single day. I have done none of those things. Zero. None. I eat cookies and had a bagel every single day for the first five months of my pregnancy.”
