Lara Andallo's new single Head To Toe is another captivating release from the Australian R&B artist, and she's used it as a chance to speak her mind. Lara explores both her masculine and feminine sides on Head To Toe, letting that special someone now that she's "got the best of both worlds".
The song's trap-influenced production fits together seamlessly with her soaring vocals, and the track's energy is inspiring. If you feel like you've been hiding parts of yourself to appease others, then let Head To Toe serve as your inspiration to express your true self. We've all got a lot of "flavours and layers".
Speaking about the track, Lara reveals, "Head To Toe was the first song I ever wrote where I didn't hold myself back from saying certain things or try to hide parts of myself that I felt people wouldn't like. This record quickly became one of my favourite demos at the time, and I didn't realise why I loved it so much was because I finally let myself be. The first verse was written from my more masculine/tomboy side, whereas verse two was expressing my femininity.”
The track is accompanied by a music video that was directed by Melanie Or, and the visual further explores the duality of her masculine and feminine energies. It's a striking concept, with Lara's two distinct looks helping to emphasise the track's message. You don't just have to fit into one box.
Speaking about the video for Head To Toe, Lara explains, “I already knew as I was writing it in this way that I wanted to do a music video showing the contrast between these two sides, but also show how my aura & power never changes.
"I had this initial idea of having 2 distinct & contrasting looks on a rotating podium, but then from there my creative director and I really went in on conceptualising the video, from the lighting to the props and movement... everything was intentional & had a purpose. This music video really feels like a proper introduction to who I am. It just captures my duality so well.”
