While daine might be best known for her emo-infused pop, she's a big fan of hyperpop, the hyperactive genre that feels like a sugar rush for your ears. Her new single, boys wanna txt, takes that love of hyperpop and turns it into her first single of 2021, and it's a bit of a who's who of the genre.

Boys wanna txt is produced by 100 gecs' Dylan Brady and Ryan Jacob, and features ericdoa. Ericdoa jumps on the track towards the back-end with a melodic flow that serves as a contrast for daine's auto-tuned, upbeat vocals.

Speaking to Crack Magazine about the track, daine says, “boys wanna txt is the child of my connection to a community I found during lockdown. During the pandemic I wanted to lift spirits and find new ways to be a part of a scene (as cringe as that sounds).

"So I launched my e-festival Nocturne. Fortuitously that landed me around many artists deemed under the infamous ‘hyperpop’ genre, and this song is me saluting this weird moment in time with eric, Dylan and Ryan.”

The track also comes with a music video made by Oliver van der Lugt, aka Air Max '97. It captures daine's IRL and online personas, and shows how daine stays connected to the rest of the world through being online. There's a cameo from ericdoa for good measure, with daine and eric linking up for a video call..

Check out boys wanna txt below. If you're a fan of Charli XCX (who daine counts as a mentor), or 100 gecs, then you'll be chucking this into your playlists. Just keep some sugar on hand for after you're done listening, because you won't want to crash after listening to this.
