daine's followed up their recent single sleepwalking with the release of dragging, which can be viewed as a prequel to sleepwalking. sleepwalking explores the emotions associated with separating from someone you deeply care about, while dragging highlights the thoughts and feelings that swirl around when you're making the call to let someone go. Both tracks are similarly affecting and similarly mesmerising.
draggiing takes inspiration from shoegaze while also incorporating elements of Midwest emo that have become a core part of daine's sound. It's not hard to imagine this song playing while the rain's running down your bedroom window, with each raindrop containing a fragment of the past.
dragging was produced by Lonelyspeck (who also produced SALT and Ascension), while blvu plays guitar on the track. daine's vocals pierce through the song's shimmering, slightly misty production, while lyrics like "Maybe I don't wanna know the truth" highlight daine's struggle. They know that they need to make the hard call to let someone go, but that's easier said than done.
2022's been a huge year for daine. Back in April, they released their debut project, Quantum Jumping, and they've played shows both locally and overseas. daine supported Charli XCX at her "all eras" shows, and together, sleepwalking and dragging offer an insight into where daine's sound is heading next. You'll feel like you're floating when you're listening to dragging.

You can check out dragging below. If you've ever had to let go of someone, then you'll relate to the thought patterns that daine explores on dragging. Sometimes, it can be hard to commit to a decision to say goodbye to someone, even if it's the right call.
